Chavone Crespo, MS, LMHC, LPC, CDBT, ACS

I received my bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Psychology from City University of New York – Hunter College. I received my master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Touro College.

Born and raised in New York, NY, I traveled to Denver for vacation several years ago and fell in love with the people, the environment, and the overall chill vibe! I went back to NYC and decided to make a permanent move to Denver because I very much desired a change.

I have experience in running groups, working with adults, and with couples. I attend seminars, workshops, and conferences in order to stay current in my knowledge of mental health counseling theories and techniques. I also conduct extensive research on issues of counseling with the culturally diverse and produce writings on this topic.

jonah shuman, ma, lpc

I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Multidisciplinary Research Methods from the University of Colorado Denver. I completed my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary.

I moved to Colorado in 2011 to attend college in Denver, and I’ve been here ever since. Moving to Colorado from Missouri was an adventure, and I’ve found ways to integrate the Midwestern culture of my youth and the multicultural experience of Denver into my counseling.

I have experience facilitating individual and group therapy for adults who span a wide range of ages, lifestyles, sexual and gender identities, races, cultures, and so on. I have additional expertise working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and have a heart for advocacy and social justice and equality.

Emily Nikoley, MA, LPCC

I was born and raised in Southern California before moving to Denver in 2018. As a wife, mom, and dog mom, I am no stranger to juggling multiple roles at once, which helps me understand some of the unique and multifaceted parts of my clients’ lives.

Prior to working directly in the mental health field, I worked with military members and their families both in San Diego and in Denver. I facilitated psychoeducational classes (stress and anger management, suicide prevention, communication skills, conflict resolution) to active duty service members.

My professional mental health experience includes crisis intervention, inpatient acuity, case management, dialectical behavior therapy, group therapy, and assessment. Some of the client groups I have had the privilege of working with have been living with psychosis, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, complicated grief, history of trauma, bipolar disorder, and religious trauma. A niche that I particularly have a passion for are the “helpers”- medical professionals, military, law enforcement, social workers, therapists- those who work in the business of helping people and who may be experiencing vicarious traumas on a daily basis with nowhere to process it.

Emena belt, MA

I received my bachelor's degree from Miami University in Psychology. Afterwards, I went to Cleveland State University to receive my Master’s in Clinical Psychology. I’m currently a student attending the University of Denver for a Clinical Psychology doctorate.

I first visited Denver in 2020 for a conference and I was blown away by how nice people were and how pretty the mountains were. I definitely love the weather considering that I’m originally from the southern US where it’s flat and hot, so this is a great change! Every time I think I know everything there is to offer here, I always find more things.

As a student, I have had opportunities to facilitate group therapy as well as individual therapy. Regarding individual therapy, I primarily use an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy orientation. I want to focus on your values and what is keeping you from reaching your goals. I also have experience working with diverse populations.
